"TRY&ERROR" is the livepaint video featuring 14 Japanese artists.
The objective of this video is to record a number of artists who paint their art over other artists' painting on the same wall.
Today, there are many remarkable artists around us, many of whom do not belong to the established art community,
but drift through the art scene without a distinctive market. They create and live on a DIY basis. Their influences are diverse
and range from music, graffiti, cartoon/comics, magazines, club culture, hippie culture, wall painting movement, and so on.
The artists express themselves with their own grammar in an newly extended art scene which is intangible, unclassifiable,
and street-art originated.
We are hoping to set up a traffic leading to their visibility while signifying the diversity and intensity of their expression.
That is the fundamental motive underlying this open exhibition.
While the reason for video recording this event was mainly inspired by the video project by BARNSTORMERS started in 1999,
our project is essentially different. The edited video would be a hub leading to the visibility of each artist as well as
an interface to seize an extendability of art scene rather than an art piece. Therefore, we intend to upload the video
for free viewing through cloud services such as youtube, vimeo, and ustream so that more people can share.
We encourage viewers of this project to think about the extended art scene, continuity of culture, dividing communities,
and correlation between those elements.
